Steve D’Amato has been confirmed as Mosta FC coach for at least another season.

The former Hamrun coach joined the club midway through the season and guided the side to safety after a turbulent first round in which they occupied the bottom place.

D’Amato is now working hand in hand with the committee to strengthen the side, especially if players like strikers Obinna Obifuele and Dyson Falzon, as is being rumoured, are about to leave the club.

Obiefule may be seeking a transfer to a foreign club after finishing last season as the League’s top scorer. On the other hand, Falzon is once again a Valletta player after having concluded his loan with the Blues. But he is not expected to extend his stay there.

His final destination is not yet known, but if he leaves Valletta, then it might be Birkirkara.

The Stripes are, in fact, also looking for new faces to try and revive a squad which went through a disappointing season. And Falzon is rumoured to be one of their prime targets.

Coach Paul Zammit is expected to be confirmed, but one of the players who might be leaving the club is international midfielder Paul Fenech. His destination could be Mosta.

The Blues are also set to make the first big local signing as they are expected to conclude negotiations with much travelled international striker Daniel Bogdanovic soon.

Champions Valletta are also set to sign three new foreigners – all Brazilians. But their names have not yet been released.

Other targets for the Blues this summer seem to be Angus Buhagiar of Birkirkara and Christian Caruana of Floriana
