This year, IMEX visitors could once again check out the Maltese Islands’ varied conference and incentive travel offer. Together with 23 Maltese co-exhibitors, the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) successfully presented the MICE destination Malta within the framework of IMEX in Frankfurt, Germany last month.
IMEX, which is an annual award-winning trade show for the worldwide meetings, incentive travel and events industry, celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. Around 4,000 high quality buyers attended this year’s show from an overall total of nearly 9,000 visitors from around the world.
Malta’s ambassador to Germany Karl Xuereb, as well as MTA CEO Josef Formosa Gauci also attended the Malta stand.
Renowned Maltese chef Claude Camilleri attracted numerous visitors to Malta’s stand by making typical Maltese delicacies during daily cookery demonstrations. In addition, the MTA held a Maltese drinks reception at the stand on the occasion of IMEX’s 10th anniversary and Malta’s 10-year presence as an IMEX exhibitor, and the MTA again sponsored the public IMEX café, which was branded “the Maltese way” with photos of Malta’s stunning event locations that drew particular attention to Malta as a conference and incentive destination.
Very recently, the Malta Tourism Authority’s German office launched the new dedicated MICE website www.meetmalta.de containing useful information and valuable tips for event planners, a newsblog, videos and downloads, as well as current offers by hotels and Destination Management Companies. The new website goes hand-in-hand with MTA Germany’s new Meet Malta brochure. This appealing brochure contains the most recent information regarding meetings, conferences and incentives on the Maltese Islands.
