Dear Prime Minister, now that the local councils form part of your ministry, we would like to ask you to intervene for us, residents of Mula Street in Zebbug Malta. Our street has been left unsurfaced for nearly three months. We are back to using inhalers and our children are suffering bouts of asthma because the dust from the unmade street is filling our houses and our environment. The neighbourhood chapel is in our street, and so is the centre of Christian Doctrine which our children attend to prepare for their First Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Talk is doing the rounds that the mayor, Alfred Grixti, the head teacher who allegedly has a pending court case because he hit a child in his school, has withdrawn the €70,000 bond deposited by the contractor of Mr Grixti’s choice. To make matters worse for us, it is being said that the contractor does not want to carry on with the work unless the mayor returns the bond, but the rumour making the round says that the mayor has already disposed of the €70,000 with nobody knowing how. We no longer have any trust in the mayor.

Dear Prime Minister, we beg you to help us to have our street tarmacked. We beg you to help us restore our faith in local councils. We shall acknowledge your help come the general election.
