Malta Independent Sunday, 10 June 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

Former skipper Gilbert Agius will be new coach Mark Miller’s assistant next season at Valletta FC.

This was revealed by president Victor Sciriha to a large number of fans who attended the annual general meeting.

During the meeting, it was also announced that City will commence training next Wednesday as the players will resume training for the forthcoming Euro Challenge Cup.

Sciriha informed the fans that William Barbosa and Denni Dos Santos will not be leaving the club – they will also form part of the foreign players in the squad next season. He confirmed that another three foreign players from Brazil will also join the squad.

William Barbosa was voted as the Club’s Player of the Year with 65% of the votes, Denni Dos Santos received 25% while Gilbert Agius received 10%. Voting took place on the club’s official website.

The club also announced that negotiations with goalkeeper Andrew Hogg had failed and the goalie has now signed a contract with Cypriot side Enosis Neon Paralimni who just avoided relegation the past season.

His substitute is not yet known but sources close to the citizens believe that it will be former Floriana and Birkirkara goalkeeper Justin Haber who is relishing the chance to return to Maltese league football after his adventure in Greece.
