Alex Borg has advanced into the Last 32 of the European Championship being held in Latvia.

In the round of Last 64, he was in splendid form once again, defeating Georgi Velichkov 4-0. He now faces a match against Antonis Poullos for a berth in the Last 16.

Till yesterday, Borg still held the honour of having compiled the best break – a 133 – so far in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Roberta Cutajar, taking part in the ladies championship, also did well to reach the Last 16 qualifying fourth from Group B.

She won one match convincingly 3-0, but lost all the other four – three of them 3-1 and the other 3-2. She advanced ahead of Stefanie Teschner and Weronika Nowicka who also registered one win and four defeats but the Maltese girl had a better frame difference.

She now faces Wendy Jans in the Last 16.
