The MFA yesterday launched a Goal Card which will be valid for the five home World Cup qualifiers to be played between September 2012 and October 2013.
MFA president Norman Darmanin Demajo described the card as an incentive to the ever present national team fans and those who would like to secure a seat especially for the match against Italy which is scheduled to be played on 26 March 2013.
The MFA boss said the card will enable holders to attend all five matches at a very reasonable price adding that it would guarantee them a seat for the match against Italy for which there is already a very big demand.
The matches in question are the following: Malta-Armenia (7 September 2012); Malta-Italy (26 March 2013), Malta-Denmark (6 September 2013); Malta-Bulgaria (10 September 2013) and Malta-Czech Republic (11 October 2013).
Darmanin Demajo added that the Card is part of a campaign to have as many Maltese fans as possible supporting the national team at its home matches. It includes a reduction in the overall price on what a spectator would pay if single match-day tickets were bought.
He went on to say that only around 13,000 of the just over 17,000 seats will be available for sale because of the MFA’s obligations towards visiting teams, sponsors and the usual complimentary tickets. This, he added, would apply mostly for the match against Italy, as the MFA is not expecting such a big demand for the other matches, although the matches against the Czech Republic and Denmark, in particular, will also attract a lot of attention.
Darmanin Demajo said the MFA had been inundated with requests for the match against Italy and it was because of this demand that the association came out with the idea of the Goal Card. “We want our loyal national team followers to be able to secure a seat, either at the Enclosure, Millennium Stand, the North or the South stands. It is a good opportunity for all followers of the national team – especially those of the South Core who are always there – to secure their seat at such fantastic prices.
MFA Marketing Manager Norman Saliba said the deal will enable all card holders to take part in a lottery with fantastic prizes, the first of which is a Mediterranean cruise for two persons, courtesy of Norman Hamilton Travel. Other prizes will include five season tickets for the domestic league matches, five signed national team shirts, five footballs signed by national team players, a one-year free membership at the National Stadium swimming pool, a Goal Card for one’s partner, the chance to have one’s photo taken with the national team squad and a free Stadium tour for the family.
Goal Cards are obtainable On-Line by visiting www.mfa.com.mt or personally at the offices of the MFA at the Millennium Stand, Ta’ Qali Stadium, between 9 am and 7pm.
The offer is valid for local fans only and is open till 31 July or until stocks last. The MFA is also offering applicants a delivery service of the Goal Card at their address in Malta and Gozo (by courtesy of Miles Express Ltd).
