Following their recent appointments with Banif Financial Group, Vice President Teresa Roque dal Fabbro and CEO Jorge Tomé, of Banif – SGPS, SA paid their first official visit to Banif Bank (Malta) plc between 4 and 5 June. Banif Bank’s executive committee, led by CEO Joaquim F. Silva Pinto, greeted the senior management officials at the Bank’s Central Services in Gzira.

Ever since it started operations in Malta, back in 2008, Banif Bank (Malta) plc has been considered a very important project for the Group. It was an important milestone for the Banif Financial Group, one of the largest Portuguese financial groups, because, backed by a group of prominent Maltese investors, it undertook the establishment of a fully-fledged bank from scratch. Now in its fifth year of operations, Banif has established an effective network of nine branches across the Maltese Islands and has also developed a tailor-made Corporate & Business Banking Unit, a Private Banking arm and a local trading room.

During their short stay in Malta, Dr Roque dal Fabbro and Dr Tomé held meetings with the bank’s board of directors, executive committee and top management to discuss its current operations and future plans. The Group’s vice president and CEO had the pleasure of meeting the bank’s staff at Central Services and its retail network, giving them the opportunity to compliment the employees for their contribution which has helped Banif Bank position itself as a key player in the market. Meetings were also held with a number of key stakeholders within the local financial services sector.

Dr Teresa Roque dal Fabbro is the daughter of the late Comendador Horácio da Silva Roque, founder of Banif Group. She was appointed Vice President of the Administrative Council of Banif – SGPS, SA as from 15 April 2012. Dr Roque dal Fabbro also sits on the board of a number of companies within the Group.

Previously, a member of the board of directors of Caixa Geral de Depósitos in Lisbon, Portugal, Dr Jorge Tomé was recently invited to join Banif – SGPS, SA as a member of its board and CEO. Dr Tomé has also been appointed a member of the board of directors of Banif Bank (Malta) plc.
