Noel Scicluna yesterday won the Mosta Bacon Skeet Trophy which was organised by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation and held in the Federation’s shooting range at Bidnija.
The competition consisted on a first round shoot on 50 clays, with the best six qualifying for the barrage of 25 clays.
Noel Scicluna was in front in the first round when he scored 45 out of 50, the same score also obtained by Paul Sant and Raymond Camilleri. These were followed by Darren Vella who hit 43 clays, Jason Agius with 42 and Joe Muscat with 41.
Darren Vella was the most precise in the final barrage when he hit 24 clays out of a maximum of 25, to finish with a total of 67. Paul Sant hit 23 clays and also finished with a total of 67, whilst a shoot off was necessary to determine the second and third placing.
Winner Noel Scicluna hit 23 out of 25 in the barrage to finish on top with 68 clays.
Jason Agius hit 23 in the barrage to finish with a total of 65, equal to Raymond Camilleri who fared badly in the barrage hitting only 20. Joe Muscat finished in sixth place hitting 23 clays in the barrage for a total of 64 clays.
