The second FIA Drag racing championship took place in Sweden in the world class racing facility ‘Tierp Arena’ the past weekend.
This is the newest track in Europe and is compared to American class Drag racing tracks by many top European drivers.
Kalanc Racing Team managed to beat the MPH record with an impressive 272mph, which is now officially considered as Europe’s fastest top methanol dragster.
Kalanc racing team also won the event among the top eight in his class while Mr Whippy Racing Team placed third and also ran a very good elapsed time of 5.297 Sec.
In the semi finals the two Maltese teams raced each other with Chris Polidano from Kalanc Racing Team emerging as the winner as Manty Bugeja from Mr Whippy Racing Team suffered a very hard tyre shake and had to cut off the throttle.
Maksar Racing Team - a local drag racing diesel truck - also participated in this event with some exhibition runs as the world fastest diesel powered truck!
Maltese racers have once again managed to win and placed Malta’s name so high in the Drag racing scene.
