All three Junior Open titles were once again won by Marsa Sports Club players at the recently held BelBin Malta Junior Open.
The three junior champions, Kimberley Cauchi, Mark Schranz and Colette Sultana, all started playing squash at Marsa following the squash sections junior development programme.
In the under 13 event Kimberley Cauchi won her second title dominating all her opponents without dropping a single game.
The under 15 event saw Mark Schranz back on the squash court after an absence of over seven years. Mark won his second Malta Junior Open title to follow his first victory in the 2005 under 13 event.
Colette Sultana, undefeated in the Malta Junior Open since 2006, won her 7th consecutive junior title without dropping a single game in the under 17 event.
What was even more impressive was that only eight years after finishing runner-up in her first junior open in 2005 Colette went on to win the 2012 BelBin Malta Ladies Open for the first time, a remarkable achievement for the 16 year old.
Marsa Squash Section Chairman Charles Cuschieri commented that Colette was a “true inspiration for all juniors taking up the sport’ and that ‘given the correct foundations and the correct level of commitment and dedication juniors can push forward and achieve success in a relatively short space of time.”
