The match is still open for the second encounter, but it didn’t look that way at the start of the last period, when Marsascala held a solid 13-7 lead. Valletta’s staged a good rally, to get back into contention.

The Citizens twice replied to Marsascala’s two goal bursts, and at the interval the two sides were even, at 5-5. After the break Marsascala forged forward decisively, after Valletta’s initial reaction, and a five goal knock had the Southerners in command. The Citizens ended the match on a high note, to keep on hoping for a place in the final.

Marsascala had Ranier Scerri and Judashz Szolt both suspended, but introduced another Hungarian, Gabor Hedegus. They had Joseph Kayes with five strikes, and Stephen Micallef with a hat trick. Valletta also had a new foreigner, Milos Korolija from Serbia, instead of Robert Kovacs. Korolija and David Zoltan both scored hat tricks.

Sirens’ six goal advantage from their first match seemed safe, but they actually had to come from behind, even on aggregate, in the last session, to creep through to the semis, against Sliema.

Exiles were always forcing the play, but Sirens were well in control till the interval, even though Exiles were ahead, on a 5-3 score. The rot started for Sirens after the break, when Exiles’ press began to have effect, and a four goal burst, had them equal on aggregate. Then it was tit for tat, with both teams level, despite a heavy 11-5 lead for Exiles.

In the last quarter Exiles went in front, but two goals turned the match in Sirens’ favour, and they held out till the very end, to deny Exiles in their good comeback, in the second match. Peter Borg and Marthon toth scored three times for the losers, and Csaba Kiss and David Cutajar scored twice for Sirens.
