The 64th edition of the FISEC Games being held in Malta, were inaugurated yesterday with the Opening ceremony for the participating countries at the National Park Ta’ Qali.
The countries taking part are Austria, France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Flanders, England and Brazil, besides Malta of course.
Malta did not fare too well in the competitions held yesterday.
Malta were beaten 101-24 by France in the Boys’ basketball event and the Futsal team lost to Brazil 5-0.
In the Boys’ handball, Malta A lost to France 22-9 and Malta B lost to Portugal 39-6. Malta A beat Malta B 18-7 in their direct encounter.
The volleyball Girls’ team were beaten 3-0 by Holland but the Maltese fared better in Table Tennis as both the Boys and Girls team won Bronze in their respective categories. Teresa and Sacha Genovese form the Girls team while the Boys players were Andrea Portelli and James Camilleri.
