BOV National Premier League

San Giljan Giuseppe’s 12

Sirens Ritter Sport 15

(3-4, 3-4, 4-5, 2-2)

Sirens, bitterly disappointed at not having made the K.O. final, kept up their good work under Marco risso, with a sound victory over the Saints. The latter never really got going, although they opened the scoring, and managed to tie the score, before the interval. Sirens played confidently throughout the encounter, and although their heavy press gave San Giljan no less than fifteen man ups, the Saints didn’t make such good use of them, netting on six occasions. The losers also missed a penalty, at the start of the final session, which would have brought them back in the match.

Coach, Karl Izzo, returned from suspension for San Giljan, who also had Paul Fava back from injury, but he stayed on the deck. Nicola Sutic was missing once more, as the Saints kept their two foreigners from the previous game.

Sirens had two players fouled out in the last period, Alex Attard and David Cutajar, but when they went five goals in front it was curtains for the Saints.

Csaba Kiss scored four times, and Dino Zammit was on hand, to add on three more for Sirens. The Saints had Matthew Zammit and Christian Gialanze both on hat tricks.

Sirens now leapfrog over the Saints, who remain on two bonus points, whilst Sirens now total four points.

Ta Xbiex Amigos 9

(4-2, 4-2, 5-2, 2-3)

M’scala enhanced their top position, with their maximum bonus points, with their second seasonal victory over Ta Xbiex. M’scala recovered ranier Scerri, after his three match suspension, and replaced Judashz Szolt with Gabor Hedegus, who responded with with four goals, along with six more from the powerful Joseph Kayes.

Ta Xbiex’s replies came from Laszlo Suranyi, with a poker of goals, and a hat trick by Yuri Szeles, which were nor enough to get the better of M’scala.

The winners eased away in the first three sessions, with Ta Xbiex keeping close till midway through the second period, but the league leaders proved too strong, as they drew away enough, to set their minds at rest, and let the other sides in this division do the chasing.
