This month, the Olympics will be held in the city of London. In Xemxija we have a garden dedicated to the Olympic Spirit that will surely get a gold medal for neglect!

I have written two letters to the British High Commission and to St Paul’s local council in the past year in which I suggested they join forces and revamp this derelict garden: the Olympic Garden in Xemxija Bay. The landscaping would have commemorated the 2012 London Olympics. I even proposed that they could highlight the cities that have hosted the Olympics since their inception up to London along the pathways. I was fortunate to receive an email of acknowledgement from SPLC but none from BHC. 

Still, the start of the games is only few weeks away and miracles can happen. Who knows, perhaps the Ministry of Resources might find the wherewithal to embellish this site? We might even see this derelict and depressing place turned into a recreational and educational area.
