Whenever Dr Lawrence Gonzi tries to find consolation by referring to the grave situation in which Greece finds itself, he reminds me of the person who went to visit a very dear friend in hospital who was suffering from a serious, but not life-threatening, illness and was in great pain.

To console his friend, this person told him, “Don’t worry, you are in good health, just look at that person over there, he has only a day or two to live!”
