Shooting - Darren Vella Wins MSG Skeet Trophy

Darren Vella was the overall winner of the MSG Skeet Selection organised by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation yesterday.

This to competition was held in order to determine the Skeet shooters for who will be representing Malta at the European Commonwealth Shooting Championships to be held in Jersey next September.

Darren Vella placed first with 112 clays out of 125 in the first phase, to then hit another 23 in the final barrage for a total of 135.

Clive Farrugia placed second with 108 clays in the first round, and an additional 22 in the final barrage for a total of 130.

Noel Scicluna placed third with 106 hits in the first round, another 23 in the final barrage, for a total of 129.

Jason Sciberras came fourth with 106 hits in the first round, tied with Noel Scicluna, to then hit only 21 in the final barrage for a total of 127.

Joe Muscat placed fifth, also with 106 clays in the first round, but then dropped behind in the final barrage hitting only 20 out of 25 for a total of 126 clays.

Finally, Ian Grima placed sixth with 99 hits in the first round and another 23 in the final barrage, for a total of 122 clays.

In Class A, Noel Scicluna was first with 48 clays out of 50, followed closely by Clive Farrugia with 45 out of 50.

in Class B, Jason Sciberras came first with 45 clays out of 50. Ian Grima came second with 40 out of 50.

At the end of the event, the winner Darren Vella (pictured above) was presented with the trophy.

The trophies for this competition were sponsored by MSG Ltd of San Gwann.
