Works in agricultural areas around Mdina bastions aimed to create a walking area in the environs will be causing flooding and damage.
It was understandable that heavy machinery had to be brought in to rehabilitate the bastions, but that did not mean ignoring the characteristics of the hills. A ramp which is to be used as a passageway will be the cause of rainwater hurtling down and damaging fields and the cemetery nearby.
The Malta Environment and Planning Authority and other authorities should explain why more sustainable methods were not used which would have impacted less on the rural environment.
