Uefa.com also revealed the solidarity amounts which the national associations will be receiving for the participation of their clubs in the UEFA club competitions last season.

Malta’s Football Association will be receiving the amount of €640,000.

More benefits for local clubs

Moreover it is now known that the clubs whose players have played in the national team in the European Championship are also to be compensated.

At first, UEFA had decided that the benefits were to be shared by clubs whose players took part in the finals. But clubs whose players did not take part in the finals because their national teams had been eliminated in the Groups protested, insisting that the Championship also consisted of the qualifying stages of the competition.

This has now been accepted by UEFA.

It is encouraging news for the clubs whose players played for Malta in the last edition of the European Championship qualifying rounds. UEFA has now ruled that the amount of €4,160 is to be paid to each club for every player in each squad of 18 players for each match (in Malta’s case 10 because it was in a Group of six teams) played in the qualifying rounds.

And further good news for the clubs is that they are now presenting the same case to FIFA, insisting that it should adopt the same measures for the World Cup qualifying rounds and finals.
