Stanley Portelli, executive head of Transport Malta, yesterday filed for libel against the General Workers’ Union’s Sunday newspaper It-Torċa in connection with an article carried on 8 July reporting an internal investigation at Transport Malta about the purchase of 10 cars.

Dr Portelli is seeking maximum damages under the Press Act. He complained that the article was carried purely to damage his reputation. Dr Joe Zammit Maempel signed the complaint against editor Alexander Farrugia.
