Sun Screen

Malta Independent Thursday, 19 July 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

I am a British national and I have been coming to Malta for over 20 years. One thing I have noticed is that the summer sun is stronger than ever before here.

It was in the early 1990s that sun screen use took off. But I notice a similarity between Malta and the UK. Not many people seem to use it. Of course, one understands that Maltese people are olive skinned and are much more used to the sun than us milky white Brits, but the fact remains that skin cancer is a risk. Everyone should use sun screen, no matter what their skin colour, or how ‘used’ to it they are. It is a potential killer and everyone should take the necessary precautions.
