Another race meeting will be held at the Marsa racecourse today, with a seven race, all-trot card starting at 7pm.
This is the penultimate meeting before the summer break with participants trying to obtain sufficient points to claim a coveted place in one of the finals scheduled for the Grand Finale of the 27th July. All races will again be on the short 2,140m distance.
The Premier class race should be a great attraction with various big names in the Maltese trotting scene taking part. Participants include recent VOB Cup winner Label Chouan, last week’s winner Shakira Trot, Milord Barbes which placed in both the Prix de Vincennes and the VOB Cup finals, Arnie Sensation coming from a win and a place, three-time winner Nabab du Chatelet, past Tazza l-Kbira winner Kakisis and a number of other top class trotters.
The two Gold class races also feature various horses currently enjoying good form. These include Pouvoir Magique, Little Nick and Nacarat Campbell which all won their last race, plus horses such as Love Heart, Baron G.L. and Rambo Lambo which are coming from a win and a good place in their last outings.
The remaining four races are dedicated to silver, bronze and copper class trotters, all of which are equally balanced.
Determining the finalists for any championship is always an uncertain affair, whatever the class of the participating horses. One looks forward to some exciting challenges and race finishes in today’s meeting, by the end of which all the participants in next week’s Summer Championships Grand Finale will become known.
