With regard to the excellent article by Martin Scicluna dealing with the Vatican and its politics (TMID, 18 July), I would kindly like to point out that Pope Pius XII was not the last Secretary of State to become Pope but Cardinal Giovanni Battista Montini who became Pope Paul VI in 1963.
