On the night of 2 July, at around 9.30pm, our 13-year-old son commenced his solitary wait, at the correct stage, for the 106 bus next to the University main entrance. At approximately 10pm, he saw the bus in question, bearing the number 106, in the distance and expected it to approach the stop. However, the driver did nothing of the sort for he made a turning towards Mater Dei Hospital and the vehicle went out of sight. Our boy noticed that there weren’t any passengers on board. At exactly 10.32pm, our son phoned us up on his mobile phone with the whole story. We told him to stay put and wait for us to pick him up ourselves.

The next day, I sent an email of complaint to Arriva’s customer care section asking for an explanation. To his credit, a certain Geoffrey Vella replied on the morrow, telling me that my email had been forwarded to the person responsible and Arriva will then get back to me as soon as they have an answer. I’m still waiting.
