Athleta Basketball Nursery held their annual presentation dinner recently. This annual event was very well attended by the players, coming from all age categories, their parents, committee members and sponsors.

The Nursery’s chairman, Joe Miceli, and General Secretary, Ms Anneke Grixti, explained the nursery’s objectives to foster education and sports in the children attending the nursery through basketball in their opening speeches.

Athleta Basketball Nursery is registered with the Maltese Council for Sport and forms part of the Athleta Basketball Club which is registered with the Malta Basketball Association.

Athleta is the oldest basketball club in Malta and competes in all the different basketball categories at different age groups including the national senior categories.

Athleta Basketball has won a number of national honours over the years and is currently the reigning senior men’s champions.

Athleta thanked all the main sponsors who supported the nursery during the whole season, namely A to Z Electronics, The General Soft Drinks Company Limited (Powerade), Teamsport and Lavish Company Limited (Honey) whose support and sponsorship were of vital importance.

Finally, the Nursery Committee thanked all the parents and children for being part of this successful nursery and are now looking forward to another successful year.

Training is held in the gymnasium of St. Augustine’s College in Pieta.
