Usual Suspects

Malta Independent Friday, 27 July 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

Leo Brincat (Getting facts right, TMID, 26 July), stands by his claim that the “usual suspects” went ballistic on Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando the moment he resigned from the Nationalist Party only to go completely silent on “instructions from above” so as not to rock the boat.

He must have stopped reading newspapers these last few days because there were a number of articles written about the political situation, including and especially about JPO’s resignation.

It is typical Labour paranoia to think that commentators have their strings pulled “from above”. It is reminiscent of the times when the Labour government controlled the national media. But we do not live in those times any more.

In his letter, Mr Brincat failed to mention who the “usual suspects” are, although he says they are “household names”. Again, it is typical Labour strategy to hit out indiscriminately.

Some things never change.
