Shabby Places

Malta Independent Thursday, 2 August 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Reference is made to the leading article “Sliema and St Julian’s: Shabby and Dirty Towns” (TMID, Saturday 28 July). Please note that it is all of Malta that is a tourist destination, including St Paul’s Bay.

This spot in Dawriet il-Gżejjer is disgusting. This is the starting point of the Fun Train where visitors line up to take a trip round St Paul’s Bay and they start by seeing a rubbish dump.

This is the kind of Maltese hospitality that is offered by some people – they are irresponsible and dump their garbage wherever it suits them. I have asked the local council to take action but nothing has been done about it.

I am sorry to keep on drumming about this. I have been doing so for years on end but no one came up with a solution as yet. I hope that someone will tackle this issue once and for all; not just here but wherever it applies.

We need to instill a culture that public places need to be kept as clean as our homes.
