Etienne Bonello has retained his Time Trial national championship title after the final round at Mizieb.

The 202 Jewellery Time Trial national championship came to an end last weekend with the final hill climb at Mizieb.

The gruelling hill proved to be a tough challenge which made the race for the overall time trial championship undecided till the very last rider up the hill. Fastest on the day was Maurice Formosa (The Cyclist) in a course record breaking time of 2:19, he was followed by Christian Formosa (Melita Discus) in 2:25 and Etienne Bonello (Team Greens) in 2:26.

Bonello, who dominated the first two time trial rounds in Bahar ic-Caghaq and Zebbug ,scored enough points to win his seventh national championship title. 

The main results of the day were:

Juniors: K Xuereb (Mosta), N Zammit (Mosta)

Ladies: M Vella Wood (BSJ), M C Aquilina (Greens), J Calleja (BSJ)

50+: J Mallia (Qormi), C Zammit (Mosta)

60+  E Camilleri (Mosta), A Borg (Qormi), A Abela (Qormi)
