I would like to point out the inaccuracies in Dr Joseph Bonello’s letter entitled “Justice has not been denied” written on behalf of the Ministry of Education (TMIS, 17 June 17).

1) Dr Bonello mentioned that my degree had been correctly assessed according to the criteria of the time. This flatly contradicts the Ombudsman’s conclusion that “the complainant’s qualification was incorrectly assessed” (pg 8 of the Ombudsman’s decision). Can Dr Bonello explain this discrepancy?

2) If such criteria do exist, then why hasn’t the Ministry provided concrete references that can be verified? I’ve been asking for proof of such criteria for a long time.

3) Dr Bonello fails to inform the readers of the unethical conditions being imposed upon my receiving the payment − namely, I must forfeit any rights I assume to have regarding the case and accept the payment not as my right, but as a favour! The very wording goes against the basics of justice! Not even a court of law can ask one to forfeit his / her rights, let alone the Ministry of Education 

4) The ‘threat’ Dr Bonello refers to is no threat at all, but good, logical advice when in election mode − besides, saying how I might vote is my right, and not a threat.

So, Dr Bonello, when you write, please don’t twist things and make sure you can prove what you say − I refer you again to points one and two.
