The Gozo Football Season 2012-2013 will see the return of the Gozo Player of the Month award. Organised by the Gozo Football Association (GFA), the competition will be known as the BOV GFA Player of the Month.

This was announced during a press conference held at Bank of Valletta’s Head Office to draw the fixtures of the BOV GFA Cup for season 2012-2013. It was addressed by Victor Denaro, Chief Officer Bank of Valletta, and Elvin Grech and Joseph Bajada, GFA president and secretary respectively.

“We are pleased to re-introduce the Player of the Month Award to the Gozo football competitions following an absence of a number of years” said Mr Denaro. “The BOV GFA Player of the Month aims to promote a higher level of play and to reward players whose performance during the particular month stood out from the rest.”

“The preliminary round of the BOV GFA Cup 2012-2013 will kick off on Wednesday 14 November 2012 and will see 12 teams from the First and Second Division competing in the preliminary round for a berth in the quarter finals. Last season winners Xewkija Tigers FC and finalists Xaghra United FC (finalists) go though to the quarter-finals automatically.

“The final will be played at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday 28 April 2013,” said Elvin Grech. “Bank of Valletta has become synonymous with the BOV GFA Cup and we are delighted that the Bank is extending its support to the BOV GFA Player of the Month, which we are sure will contribute to keener competition to the delight of the supporters.”
