Local international volleyball referee Nello Calleja has been appointed by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) to be one of the officials in the 2nd round qualifying pool D of the Women’s 2012 CEV Senior Volleyball European Championships to be played in Rovinj, Croatia, later on this month.

This qualification Pool D will be played between Thursday 13 and Saturday 15 September between hosts Croatia, Great Britain, Portugal and Romania.

This will be the second tournament for these four teams since they would have met in Romania the week before.

The winner of this qualification group, together with the winners of the other five qualification groups, will qualify directly for the final round of the Senior European Championships which will be played in Germany and Switzerland next year. The runners-up of each group will qualify for the third qualifying round.

Calleja will form part of a team of four referees refereeing the matches in this group. The other referees will be Mr. Evgeniou (Cyprus), Mr. Micevski (Macedonia) and Mr. Tschrischnig (Austria).
