The St Paul’s Bay local council was in the news for the wrong reasons these last few days.

Sludge that was dredged from a part of the coast was re-dumped in another area of the same coast within the locality. The council and Mepa seem to be blaming each other on the matter.

But, aside from the finger-pointing, what I would like to know is how is it possible that someone – whoever that someone is – thought it fit that material dredged from one area of the sea could be dumped in another area of the coast.

Isn’t it logical that any material that is dredged up from the sea should not find itself back in the sea, especially in areas where people swim?

It does not need someone from Mepa to tell you that it is wrong to do that.
