Sebastian Coe says he will run for the post of chairman of the British Olympic Association after successfully overseeing the organisation of the London Games.

Coe, a two-time Olympic gold medallist in the 1,500 metres, accepted an approach to be a candidate to succeed Colin Moynihan, who announced he was quitting a day after the Olympics a month ago.

Coe announced his interest in the job after a parade in London marking the end of the Olympics and Paralympics.

No one else has declared their interest in the job.

Coe, who is an IAAF vice president, has also said he wants to replace Lamine Diack as head of track and field’s governing body in three years.
