The Malta Weightlifting will continue with the local competitive commitments today.
Targets for this competition are for the achievement of better ranking positions as well as for qualification and selection of the national team that will represent Malta in the Mediterranean Cup next December in Italy.
A good number of athletes have registered for these events. Competition will start at 9.30am with cadets and youths followed by that for women, and the last competition will be that for male seniors.
During this competition, four national technical officials will be sitting for their last examinations before becoming international TO’s.
It is good to say that three out of four referees are female. This is a good step forward for the MWA as these will be the first Maltese female international TO’s.
Tomorrow, the MWA president, Jesmond Caruana leaves Malta to referee the world championship for youths in Kosice, Slovakia.
