St. Patrick 1

Pembroke A. 2

Newly-promoted and third division champions Pembroke Athleta shocked St. Patrick as they managed to beat them 2-1.

It was a valiant effort from Scerri’s team, as they came back from a goal down to claim their first three points. On the other hand, it was a tough loss for St. Patrick who were relegated from the first division last year.

The Saints took the lead after just six minutes when from a corner, Nikolay Filipov headed high and from close range beat Calleja Cremona.

Pembroke made a good reaction and equalised on the 14th minute. It was a good run from Lydon Cilia on the left flank, he crossed in the middle of the box, with John Roland Emeka meeting the cross and with a good header to put the ball past Grech.

In first half stoppage time Pembroke almost took the lead when Grech turned into a corner a shot from Emeka after a good pass by Cilia.

Pembroke went in front on the 62nd minute when Kurt Coleiro recieved a good pass, and after advancing alone, scored with a low shot.

St. Patrick reacted and three minutes later, a shot from captain Thomas Caruana gave the illusion of a beautiful goal but his placed shot went off target.

The Saints went very close to equalise when on the 84th minute Cassar crossed into the box, Matthew Xerri rose above all his opponents only to see his good header hitting the crossbar.

In the last moments of the game with St. Patrick pushing forward, Pembroke almost scored their third goal when a poor long-ball from Grech, finished into Emeka’s foot. The foreigner saw the post empty and shot from the middle of the pitch, but Grech managed to save the ball on the line with a stunning save.

Kirkop U. 0

Siggiewi. 4

Mark Camilleri was the hero for Siggiewi when he scored four goals which helped his team win their first match after they beat Kirkop United 4-0 in a match that they dominated. Kirkop were too powerless to react and surely that they need to improve their game .

The first half was very quiet with the only action to note was Siggiewi’s first goal on the 36th minute when Caruana didn’t picked the ball from a corner, and after several players fighting for the ball, Mark Camilleri headed above the others and beat Caruana with a good header in the corner.

Siggiewi doubled their lead on the 62nd minute when from a corner by Jason Camilleri, Mark Camilleri headed again and beat Caruana for the second time.

Mark Camilleri netted the hat-trick three minutes later, with a tap-in after a pass from Shead.

Mark Camilleri rounded the poker when he scored his third header of the game on the 75th minute.
