hese drivers were accompanied by ASM President Frans Deguara, ASM Secretary General Johann Pace, Treasurer Edgar Xuereb and Assistant Secretary Francis J. Azzopardi.

His Excellency showed great interest in the motorsport events organised by ASM and invited the association to participate in special events during this year’s edition of PaqPaqli ghal-Istrina.

Mr. Deguara invited His Excellency to attend the 19th Special Event at Ta’ Qali by ASM organised to raise funds in favour of the Malta Community Chest Fund where Special Autocross, Motocross, Trials, Quadbike races are organised including the Special Grand Demolition Derby. This event is scheduled for 23 December.

The invitation was warmly welcomed by Dr Abela who also personally thanked ASM and its members for the cooperation and assistance during many fund raising events organised at MFCC in favour of MCCF.

The ASM race tracks are at present being refurbished in preparation for the coming ASM national championships. Extensive works are being carried out especially on the Motocross tracks to bring them in line as much as possible to the UEM European standards.

Most modifications approved by the Executive Committee are carried out under the guidance of Frans Deguara who is assisted by Johann Pace, Clayton Camilleri and John Micallef.

These works are made possible with the use of heavy plant machinery provided by the Ministry of Resources and Rural Affairs and Messrs Vella of Central Asphalt Ltd. through the intervention of the Projects Officer Lawrence Darmanin.

The track’s works repairs are expected to be finished soon and the drivers will hopefully be able to commence their training sessions by Saturday 29 September.

The ASM 2012-2013 national championships are scheduled to commence on 7 October.
