Maltese Double Trap shooters William Chetcuti and Natan Lee Xuereb finished in second and third place yesterday in the Double Trap Grand Prix held in Maribor, Slovenia. This was in preparation for the the ISSF World Cup Finals, where the Maltese duo will compete among the top 12 world shooters.
Yesterday William Chetcuti hit 48/50 in his first round, followed by another 48/50 and 46/50, to qualify first for the barrage finals with atotal of 142/150.
Hakan Dahlby of Sweden qualified with 141/150.
Nathan Lee Xuereb managed 43/50, 49/50 missing only his last target and 46/50 to qualify third for the finals.
In the barrage finals Hakan Dahlby did well with 46/50 for a total of 187/200 to place first.
William Chetcuti was runner-up as he hit 142+43 for a total of185/200.
Other Maltese shooter Nathan Lee Xuereb managed 138+45 (total183/200) to place third and alos obtain a podium finish.
The ISSF World Cup Finals Double Trap event will be held on the same shooting ranges at Maribor, in Slovenia next Monday morning where both Maltese shooters qualified after gaining points in The ISSF World Cup series 2012. William placed 2nd and Nathan Lee placed 4th in the ISSF World Cup USA.
The Maltese shooters are being assisted by their coach Jimmy Bugeja.
