New President for IFS-Malta

Simon Grech FCIB has been elected president of the Institute of Financial Services − Malta following the annual general meeting and first committee meeting held recently.

Mr Grech brings with him several years of professional experience. He is currently Head of Retail Banking at Banif Bank Malta. Mr Grech started his banking career with Bank of Valletta in 1985 where he worked until 2007, undertaking various roles including Senior Branch Manager and Corporate Relationship Manager.

Mr Grech has been an elected ifs-Malta Committee member since 2000 where he had various roles including that of Secretary and Director of Education. Since 1998 he has been a tutor at ifs Malta and other institutions on topics such as Lending, Banking Operations, Financial Advice and Wealth Management. In 2004, Mr Grech was awarded Fellowship from ifs school of finance UK for his services.

The committee for 2012-2013 is composed as follows:

Vice-Presidents: John Agius and Peter Calleya; Secretary: Wilhelm Attard; Asst Secretary: Joseph Bugelli; Treasurer: Roberto Apap Bologna; Education Director: Kenneth Micallef; Activities Director: Wendy Zammit. Members: Paul Farrugia, Joseph Agius, Renald Theuma, Joseph Ricca, Peter Sant and Mark Agius.
