Following her impeccable performance in England’s important win against Croatia on Wednesday, FIFA referee Esther Azzopardi Farrugia’s destinations this week are Greece and Holland.
Today she will be controlling the Women’s Under 19 international friendly match in Athens between Greece and Cyprus.
The Greek FA has appointed Vassiliki Gousaris and Kaliopi Tzika as assistant referees, while FIFA referee Eleni Lambadariou will be the 4th official.
This invitation to Azzopardi Farrugia is the result of an agreement reached by the Malta FA Referees’ Department with the Greek FA to exchange female international referees for women international friendlies.
This international match is in return to last season’s visit to Malta by FIFA referee Efthalia Mitsi who, assisted by Elite assistant referees Sammy Attard and Alexander Grech, and Esther Azzopardi Farrugia as 4th official, was in charge of the Women's international friendly Malta vs Luxembourg (3-1), played at the Centenary Stadium, Ta' Qali, on Thursday 24 November 2011.
On Thursday Azzopardi Farrugia will be in charge of the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2012/2013 Round of 32 (1st Leg) match between Den Haag (Nederlands) and Rossiyanka (Russia) to be played at Kyocera Stadion in Den Haag (Netherlands).
The other members of the refereeing team accompanying her will be FIFA assistant referees William Debattista and Christopher Francalanza, while Elite referee Shona Shukrula (Netherlands) will act as fourth official.
Aubry Ralph (Northern Ireland) and Hilda McDermott (Republic of Ireland) will act as UEFA Delegate and UEFA Referee Observer, respectively.
