Attard obtained their second victory in a row against Kalkara. But they had to come from behind to score three times after suffering a goal.

It was Abduljaned Musha who opened the scoring for Kalkara on the 21st minute, but Jurgen Gauci equalised for Attard on 36 minutes.

Attard took the initiative in the second half and also managed to go ahead on 54 minutes through George Saliba.

And Nigel Spiteri scored a third on 70 minutes to assure them of the three points.

Two goals in favour of Marsa scored early in the match against St Lucia characterised this match.

Marsa pressurised their opponents and dominated all of the major aspects of the game – passes, ball possession and opportunities on goal.

Marsa opened the score three minutes from kick off when Alex Ribie’s cross found MALCOLM TIRCHETT who headed in from close range.

On the 15th Tirchett’s second attempt at scoring was saved by St Lucia’s goalkeeper Ryan Cilia. A minute later KEVIN SCERRI did not miss when he blasted home an angled shot from a notable distance.

Marsa’s ALLAND VELLA made them three on the 51st minute when he beat goalkeeper Cilia with a header. Marsa scored their fourth goal on the 29th when ALEX RIBIE found the net a rising shot from the edge of the penalty area.

On the 76th minute, St Lucia’s misery finally came to an end when substitute KERSTIN BRINCAT dribbled past goalkeeper Cilia and fired an angled shot in an empty net for the fifth and final goal.

A disappointing match was that between Xghajra Tornados and the relegated team Luqa St Andrews.

During the first 45 minutes play both teams lacked skills; however, Xghajra played slightly better than their opponents.

During the first half, although attempts at scoring where minimal, both teams’ goalkeepers saved the few attempts made in their direction.

Jason Good’s central free kick for Luqa on the 47th minute ended high over the crossbar. A corner in favour of Luqa on the 56th minute was punched off by goalkeeper Rodrick Camilleri.

On the 68th, the Tornados’ Darren Galea missed when the ball ended a few centimetres wide.

Xghajra were awarded a penalty when Luqa’s substitute Gordon Mizzi committed a foal on a Xghajra player. DARREN GALEA blasted home from the 11th metre spot.

Luqa equalised eight minutes from time when NEIL CHIRCOP beat Camilleri with a central shot from close range.

Senglea A. 4

Sirens lost their second consecutive match in their home-ground when they were easily beaten by Senglea Athletic 4-0.

Dennis Fenech’s team surely deserved their win when they dominated play and didn’t give any chance to Sirens.

Senglea had their first attempt on the 15th minute when Philip Camilleri gave a good pass behind the Sirens defence to Timmy Thomas but his shot was denied by the post.

Sirens responded on the 22nd minute when a low shot by George Falzon finished off target.

Senglea took the lead on the 32nd minute when Timmy Thomas took advantage and scored from the rebound after Spiteri didn’t hold Camilleri’s shot.

Senglea doubled six minutes later when Vince Camilleri buried past Spiteri with a beautiful shot from outside the box.

Senglea continued to attack and on the 41st minute Camilleri gave a good through-ball to Galea who tried a first time shot but his effort finished over the bar.

Sirens made two substitutions in the beginning of the second half and on the 48th minute a powerful shot from Vella was saved by Mercieca.

On the 71st minute a shot from substitute Lee Joe Schembri was again saved by Mercieca. Senglea had the chance to close the game on the 75th minute but Spiteri saved a shot from Brincat.

Senglea scored again ten minutes later when Rodney Galea beat Spiteri from close range. And they went on to seal their win with a fourth goal on the 92nd minute when from a corner from Philip Camilleri, Kevin Galea headed past Spiteri.

Marsascala recorded their first victory after they demolished new team Ta’ Xbiex 6-0 in a match that was characterised by three goals in the beginning of the match.

Ta’ Xbiex found it difficult to hang on with Marsascala especially after they went three goals in arrears.

Marsascala had their first attempt on the 12th minute when a free-kick by Clive Lanzon was tipped for a corner by Edwards and from the same corner they took the lead when Marco Milutinovic headed past Edwards.

Four minutes later Marsascala doubled their lead when Milutinovic gave a good through-ball to Matthew Gauci who lobbed over Edwards.

Alan Mifsud’s team scored the third goal on the 18th minute when Bjorn Dalli put past Edwards with a low shot.

Ta’ Xbiex had their first chance on the 32nd minute when Adrian Dominicus connected with a header from the defence but his header was saved by Attard.

Marsascala went close to the fourth goal four minutes from half time when a good action finished with a shot from Gauci that finished off target.

Marsascala scored the fourth goal on the 54th minute when Andy Portelli concluded a personal action and gave no chance to Edwards with a diagonal shot.

Ta’ Xbiex had the chance to reduce the gap on the hour mark when a good run on the right flank by Adrian Dominicus finished with a shot that was saved partially by Attard but from the rebound Bianco hit over the bar.

Marsascala made them five on the 68th minute when Matthew Gauci scored from the rebound after Edwards didn’t hold a shot from Abela.

Marsascala added another in the stoppage time when Matthew Gauci netted his hat-trick when he concluded from close range.
