I guess it is something that cannot be explained − that the Nationalist Party in government preaches creativity and innovation to us mortals, while all that its great thinkers can come up with for electoral strategy is lies.

I mean, to twist Joseph Muscat’s thinking on the minimum wage into saying that Dr Muscat plans to freeze the minimum wage is a callous lie. Dr Muscat has always said the Cola increase would be added on to the minimum wage. Is this all that the PN’s strategists can deliver? Can’t they be innovative and creative, as the government calls on us to be? No wonder the only solution the government can produce for the economy is to borrow and borrow more money, which it then spends with unimaginable profligacy. The government has run up a €5,000 million debt. It is dead on ideas.

The fact is that the Labour Party has deprived the PN of a major weapon. Tal-Pietà cannot accuse the PL of violence any more. The PN may refer to the past, but that is passé, it no longer hurts the PL badly. So the PN resorts to lies, and bloggers to repeat them for it.

It has planted scurrilous writers and faces everywhere: Lou Bondì on the public-funded broadcaster, and Andrew Borg Cardona in The Times, for instance. The latter must be the longest-serving columnist at The Times, and his only attribute is that he is an out and out PN lackey. That is why he has lasted so long there.

And there is also the frustrated Daphne Caruana Galizia of course. I need not say much about her. We all know all there is to be said. They all have much to lose, if the PN loses.

I guess we are in for the dirtiest election campaign ever. Makes me wonder – what does the PN have to lose? Why is it so afraid of losing the election? What is it afraid of the PL in government uncovering? Even for just that, I would love to see Joseph Muscat lording it at Castille.
