A late penalty saved Pieta and gave them a deserved draw against an improved Zejtun side. The results puts Pieta on top of the standings with seven points together with Lija and Marsaxlokk.

After two consecutive victories and some fine displays, Pieta went all out for a victory. They dominated and created a lot in the first half, but Zejtun shared the exchanges in the second and went very close to a surprise victory.

Farrugia saved a Pisani freekick aqnd on 13 minutes Pieta almost took the lead when Zejtun defender Azzopardi hit his own post in an attempt to clear. A minute later a Larson Mallia shot was cleared off the goal line by a Zejtun defender as Pieta piled up the pressure.

On 21 minutes Zejtun ventured forward and had a Majtar shot going inches wide. Six minutes later Zejtun took the lead when Adrian Carabott beat Montfort from the edge of the area.

Pieta continued to attack and were rewarded four minutes from the break when Kooh Sohna headed home a Terence Agius cross.

Pieta went out for more in the second part with Refalo hitting the post on 52 minutes. Three minutes Montfort saved Pieta with a brilliant save off a Karl Vassallo header and on the hour a Refalo shot missed the post.

On 72 minutes Zejtun were back in front when Adrian Caraboot was left completely unmarked to head home an Edward Azzopardi freekick. Pieta pushed everything forward and Zejtun went close to a third goal when Elzaredi’s shot skimmed the crossbar.

Five minutes from time Pieta’s efforts were rewarded when Charlo Magro floored Zarate inside the penalty area and from the penalty spot Kooh Sohna made no mistake.
