The death was announced yesterday of the former Floriana FC defender Charlie Galea.

He used to form part of the Floriana team of the 1970s at the old Gzira Stadium.

Galea was a key and regular member of the Greens and was considered as one of the stoutest defenders on the Island.

The funeral is being held today with a Holy Mass praesente cadavere at the Floriana Parish Church at 9am.
