One of Denmark’s popular newspapers, The Copenhagen Post, has showered the Maltese national team, especially English-based Jarrod Sammut, with praise after the latter’s 74-12 victory against the Danes last week.

In an article entitled “Malta have too much muscle for rugby league national side (Denmark’s team), Ruby Davy said the latter team needed a few superstars of their own if they wanted to compete on the world stage.

He went on to say that Malta had taught the Danes a lesson as Bradford Bulls player Jarrod Sammut had a 40-point haul which inspired Malta to a 74-12 defeat of the red and whites at the Gentofte Stadium.

Davy said that the English Super League player was a class above the opposition in this match.

Davy went on to write that Sammut, 25, has a host of English Super League clubs chasing his services for next season, “and the talented 169cm-tall general showed why, laying on four tries and missing only two goals.”

Davy added that it was one-way traffic from the kick-off. However, the only cheers came for the locals when Rune Thorbjorn Nordvang enabled Cameron Woods to score with a try and then when Viigna Lima scored his side’s second try in the second half.

Malta had also won the first match at home in June. Thus the Maltese easily clinched the 2012 Dove Men+Care International Series.
