Alison Vella, right, one of the top Maltese Air-Rifle shooters yesterday won a gold medal for placing first in the finals of the Eley-NSRA competition.

This was organised by the National Smallbore Rifle Association of the UK at the Lord Roberts Centre in Bisley, England.

In stage 2 of the competition, Alison Vella was in second position with a score of 366/400 points which was excellent and enabled her to earn a place in the finals.

A total of 48 male and female  competitors took part in Class C Air-Rifle category where, in the finals, Vella obtained an excellent score of 562/600 to win this event in great style.
