For the first time in nine years, a team other than Elmo or Middlesea has won the Insurance 5-a-Side League, organised by Beppe Antignolo and Mark Debono.

MIB Group (photo) broke the stranglehold of the other two companies, who had each won the league for four consecutive years in a row.

The matches, played at the Gharghur football ground, were of a good level, including players from the top local divisions.

Top scorer was Beppe Antignolo (Elmo) with 40 goals; Chris Conti (Allcare) was best player and Mark Debono (Allcare) best goalkeeper.

The players who lined up for MIB were: Brian Galea (goalkeeper), John Camilleri, Tonio Borg, Gilbert Amato Gauci, Clayton Farrugia, Dario Vella, Julian Dimech, Mark Deguara and Warren Kiomall.

“All credit goes to the members of the MIB Group team, who were up to the competition and performed splendidly,” Joe Cutajar, Managing Director of MIB Group, said.
