Depiro registered their second victory over the Paolites as they had Steffi De Martino coming to the fore after the break to dominate the opposing defence and quell Hibs’ rally in the final session.

Depiro were missing the services of their new players Emma Moore and

Beverlee Zammit who will be eligible to play next month. Hibs’ all-Maltese outfit still await the arrival of their new Sengalese player.

Depiro stormed into a 9-0 opening run with a Sam Brincat triple who netted another later on but the Paolites reduced the arrears till the end of the period.

Hibs then embarked on a long 13-3 solid run with Joselle Borg Cardona and Maria Desira points  in the second session when Brincat nailed a third trey for Depiro. Hibs’ advantage was still there at the interval on a slight 21-19 score.

The match again turned Depiro’s way after the break as De Martino began to let loose.

The Paolites had a brief flurry midway through the third session but Depiro had opened up a 37-25 lead as the last period began.

Hibs struck vehemently back marking up a heavy 14-2 run as Lucienne Bezzina put in a brace of triples.

The Paolites went to within a point but De Martino saw to it that Depiro would finish up on the winning track as a 7-2 run assured her side of victory.

De Martino ended up with 22 points to her credit and Hibs had Borg Cardona with 15 points and Desira with a further 10 points.
