Another race meeting will be held at the Marsa racetrack next Sunday, with an eight race card commencing at 2pm.
The seven trot races and sole flat race feature exclusively sprint races, a 1,640m distance for trotters and 1,250m for thoroughbreds.
The main trot attraction is the Premier class race, including 15 popular trotters some of which have just featured in the Cassar Petroleum Autumn championship. Horses such as Oscar de la Vallee, Gentle Way and Chaco Bar are coming from recent wins or places, others are looking for a return to good form, while Swedish newcomers Baron Flax and Simb Mark will make their debut in this race.
The Gold class is equally interesting, with various horses having recently been racing in the Premier class. These include Energy Launcher, Ouragan d’Any, St Andrew L.B., Quipo de Billeron and others. Participants will be promoted to the Premier class with a win and some even with a good placing.
The other trot races are dedicated to the Silver, Bronze and Copper classes, all of which include various in-form horses.
The six participants in the Class A flat race hailing from Germany, Ireland, Italy and the UK, include the welcome addition of newcomers Four Richer and Royal Fleece. Timolin is coming from two runner-up places whilst other horses make their return after several months’ absence.
Sprint racing is by nature spectacular. It requires all horses to give their best from the beginning of the race and facilitates fast timings. No doubt, more entertainment is in store at the racetrack!
