The Pair of protagonists

Malta Independent Saturday, 20 October 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

TVAM has returned on the screens of TVM, this time with an extra half an hour.

And so the protagonists have returned. Pierre Portelli and Joe Mifsud have a battle between themselves on who of them will talk the most during the programme. They hardly let their guests speak. They want to be the protagonists of the show, and tell everyone how much they know. They are competing between themselves in this respect.

I would never want to be their guest on the programme. Because I would know that I am there just to satisfy their thirst for showing off. I would be just a tool.

Presenters should not take over the programme. They are there to ask questions and guide their guests. They are not the experts. But it seems that this pair wants to ask the questions and reply to them too. So they might as well not invite anyone and have a debate between them.

It is a pity that PBS has not instructed them to change their ways. The potential is there for a good programme, but it is lost because the protagonists are not the guests, but the presenters.
