The first-ever Technology Update for all hoteliers

On the 4th October, Megabyte, Ozone and Falcom in collaboration with the MHRA, held the first-ever Technology Update, titled ‘Buy smart, perform smarter’, for the hospitality industry at The Intercontinental in St. Julian’s. The link between the hospitality industry and technology may be difficult to appreciate, but it is this connection which enables hoteliers to better meet the needs of their customers and also the needs of their organisation. Hence, three leading technology companies, Megabyte, Ozone and Falcom, came together to present the latest technology updates for the hospitality industry. The seminar was opened by the MHRA CEO, Andrew Agius Muscat. Mr. Agius Muscat highlighted the importance of technology in the hospitality industry for the purposes of enhancing the customer experience, increasing employee efficiency and generating revenue. Consequently, Donato Colamartino, Innovation Manager at MICROS-Fidelio Italia, carried out the presentation, titled ‘Property Management Systems getting smarter’, on behalf of Megabyte. Mr. Colamartino explained how the OPERA Property Management System (PMS) offers the most advanced and flexible PMS for all hotels, from limited-service establishments to hotel chains. OPERA PMS stands out because its flexibility allows the PMS to be designed according to the distinctive needs and budget of each hotel. Mr. Colamartino finished by giving a demo of the latest OPERA add-ons - mystaymanager (an application guests can load onto their personal devices to personalise their stay), OPERA2Go (wirelessly connect the hotel staff to the OPERA platform) and OPERA Kiosk (the first hotel kiosk to enable the guests to check in and out of their rooms).

Mark Randon, Corporate Sales Executive at Ozone, proceeded with the second presentation titled, ‘Ozone Ltd. - A dynamic and fast growing telecoms operator’. Mr. Randon started by stating Ozone’s simple philosophy – to be the easiest to deal with network operator locally. With the highly skilled team of dedicated experts, Mr. Randon explained how Ozone partner with their customers on a one-to-one basis to ensure the best solutions for their customer’s business. Incorporating more than 16 years experience in building IT infrastructure - along with a suite of sophisticated Wireless Voice and Data equipment - Ozone is in a unique position for customers to experience an IT partnership unmatched by others.

The last presentation, titled ‘Falcom Co. Ltd. - Innovative, Intelligent solutions’, was delivered by Alexia Rota, Director of Sales & Marketing at Falcom - a hotel supplier of telecommunications and security

products established for the last 27 years. During her presentation, Ms. Rota gave a taste of Falcom’s vast and variant portfolio. She presented products that make the hotel environment more secure both for employees and guests, products such as electronic in-room safes, electronic card locks and lightning and surge protection. She then explained some of the telecommunications products which allow hotels to offer state-of-the-art services whilst increasing their revenue. Such products include media hubs, mobile/tablet services, digital signage, docking stations and much more. All of Falcom’s products come from leading brands ensuring reliability of products coupled up with an unbeatable service.

Rainer van Beckum, CEO at Megabyte, wrapped up the seminar pointing out the need for hoteliers to continue to embrace new technology trends, as this not only increases the value of their customers stay but also enhances the running of their business.
