Bank of Valletta, the leading patron of arts and culture in Malta, has signed a two-year collaboration agreement with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, a predominant exponent of Maltese composers. Both parties will collaborate in a project to promote and conduct quality performances on a national level.
“We are honoured to have BOV again as one of our principal sponsors, supporting one of the core programmes of the orchestra targeting children, youths and communities,” said Chairman of MPO, Dr James Scerri Worley.
“We are committed to supporting Malta’s national orchestra to ensure the highest quality productions. We want to encourage the public to appreciate culture in all its forms, and always dedicated a considerable proportion of our Community Relations Programme to the appreciation of music, starting with programmes that instil a love of it in the hearts of children” said the Bank’s Head of PR and Social Media Vanessa Macdonald.
In the last two to three years the orchestra in Malta has reached larger audiences. And through the BOV agreement, the Orchestra shall be working on various new projects. Their calendar is filled with over 45 events targeting various audiences. Highlights of events made possible through the BOV agreement include “Icarus at the Edge of Time”, a magical multi-disciplinary scored for orchestra, narrator and film targeting families and children, “ Meet the Basses”, a hands-on performance which introduces children to the bass instruments of the orchestra, community concerts held in various locations and the second edition of the successful MPO & MYO in concert at Pjazza San Gorg in Valletta.
The Bank is honoured to be the Official Bank of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra as this will ensure that the Maltese community will continue to be entertained with the high standards we have come to expect of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
